How to Write SEO Titles and Meta Descriptions That Earn Clicks

SEO titles and meta descriptions are small pieces of a webpage, but they shape how people understand your result before visiting the site. Good metadata is descriptive, specific and aligned with the page.

Start with the actual page purpose

The title should describe what the page really offers. A product page, service page, guide and free tool should each sound different because visitors expect different outcomes.

Put the main topic early

Search results can truncate long titles. Put the core phrase near the beginning, then add a useful qualifier or brand name if it improves clarity.

Avoid keyword lists

A title such as “SEO Audit, SEO Checker, SEO Tool, Free SEO Tool” reads poorly and does not communicate a clear promise. Write for the person deciding whether to click.

Make descriptions useful

A meta description should summarize the page in one or two sentences. Mention the benefit or action a visitor can take, but avoid exaggerated claims.

Match the search intent

If someone is searching for a checker, tell them the tool is available. If they are searching for a guide, explain what the guide teaches.

Keep metadata unique

Important pages should not all reuse the same title and description. Unique metadata helps distinguish the purpose of each URL.

Preview before publishing

Use the Markhor Global Meta Tag Checker to review your title and description, then compare the wording with the actual page content.
